Exploiting The Process
Can you see that this pattern of behavior of the mind is very profitable to be exploited in our society? How the mind is always focuses on the thing it interest and will loops to find an understanding (whether it is an excuse, reason, explanation or what have you).
I’m talking about sales. Everyone is selling to a certain degree and no one is exempted from this behaviour. From friends, YouTubers, celebrities, politicians, idols, business leaders, so forth. Everyone got something to sell be it a product, service or idea they want to spread.
By using the right talking points, keywords, jargon, meme, or ideas of a lifestyle. It has the ability to trigger a cascade of thoughts in a person mind automatically. That’s why advertisements, words or mouths, and sponsorship work.
Example: Selling Yourself in the Interview
We are always told that “first impression matters”. The whole interview process from the start until the end is a skill of selling (resume, speech, how to act, etc). The performance of the impression matters because the interviewer want to be sold that you the “one” to be hired.
If you are experienced in this dance, then acing all the way until the offer is not an issue. Of course, you need to have the skills as well to back up any claims. The meat of the potato is if you are able to sell yourself as capable, trustworthy, result-oriented, and a problem solver. You win.
When you understood this fact, you will see it being employed everywhere.
More Sales
The goal is to sell you the service, product, or idea. Even if you don’t buy it immediately, you would think of them when something related to them comes up and would buy it later. By using the correct keywords it’s easy to prime their target to think along their line of reasoning.
Some of the more visible areas are the media outlet (newspapers, magazines), politicians (left, center, or right), religious leaders, lifestyle gurus (grind, stock trader, financial), to influencers (travel, mindset, stock trading, OnlyFans, e-course).
All of it is vying for our valuable mental space through finding an entry to our thoughts to do something either in buying or believing. Even if you don’t buy it in the near future, it would have been successfully stuck in the potential target audience’s head for future purchases. Think Apple.
It is so good and subtle now that you probably won’t detect it because it is interwoven deeply with the storyline, characters, and environment.
